Fast Lane - Frame by Frame
When I was a young swimmer my winter team went away to a seven day sleep away swim camp at Mercersburg Academy. Sleep away swim camp was as fun as it sounds – not much. However I didn’t mind it because their pool had an underwater camera well. During the week they filmed us swimming, took still shots from that video, and gave us a report that analyzed our strokes. It really helped me.
Fast forward 40 years and we don’t need an underwater camera well or sleep away swim camp to pull this off – just the Holmdel Pool Club and a GoPro.
Fast Lane Frame by Frame will use both above-water and underwater video analysis to give swimmers a detailed, visual breakdown of their stroke technique. Each swimmer will receive a personalized written analysis comparing their current form to ideal stroke technique, along with specific areas for improvement. I will be writing all of the analysis myself.
Each swimmer may choose to have one or two strokes analyzed per month during our two-month season, allowing them to focus on the strokes that matter most to their development.
Program Cost: $10 for one stroke or $15 for two strokes. All proceeds will go directly back to supporting the swim team. Payment information will be handed to you after the video of your swimmer has been taken.
How to sign up. Slots will be very limited at first. I will be adding many more days and slots as the season progresses. Keep an eye on the Team Calendar for sign up dates. We will be using the "jobs" sign-up function to sign up swimmers for this event. If you wish to sign-up click the "Job signup" button next to the event in the calendar. Then click "Sign up for jobs". Then select the "check to signup" box and then click the "Save assignments" button. Each time slot can be used for one or more registered swimmers from the same family. Taking the video will only take a couple of minutes per swimmer. When the video can be taken: Eight and unders - before or after practice, 9/10s - during practice, and Eleven and older - before or after practice. The reports will be ready within 48 hours and shared through google drive.
