JSY Shorts Meet (13 and under)
The Jersey Shore YMCA has invited the Holmdel Hurricanes to their "Shorts" Meet. This meet will be an optional meet for swimmers looking to get a pre-season swim. This will be held on Saturday June 20th and is for all swimmers aged 13 and under. We will be competing as Holmdel Hurricanes. I will be there along with some of our other coaches and parent volunteers to make sure everyone gets to where they need to be. The competition level will be roughly the same as our league championship meets in years past. The meet has events that are the exact (or very close) to the distances we swim in every stroke. There are also longer events for the older swimmers who want to give them a try. Every swimmer will swim against swimmers of their same ability. There will be awards for each event. The outdoor pool at Lass Aquatic Center, Camp Zehnder, 3911 Herbertsville Road, Wall, NJ
You will select your events in Swimtopia. Entries are due in Swimtopia by Monday June 15th (I know that is early for our season as it is the also the first day of practice). Payment is due by Thursday June 18th.
Boys will be the first session and Girls will swim after the boys session is complete.
The Boys session - Doors open 9:45AM - Warm-ups are 10:15AM
The girls session - Will begin after the boys session ends - Estimated Warm-up Time 12:30PM (I will know the exact time of the girls session about a week before the meet).

You can swim up to three individual events. You will sign-up by clicking the green entry button next to the JSY Shorts in the event calander. There is a fee to enter this meet. $8 per swimmer plus $6 per event. Thus if a swimmer swims three events the fee would be $26 ($8 plus $6 times 3). Kim Schleif will be handling the collection of fees through Venmo or cash. Questions and Answers:
- How will the kids start the races? Swimmers can choose to dive if they know how or start from the wall.
- Are there relays? No - just individual events
- Does this meet count for Iron Man Awards? No this meet will not count in the Iron Man calculation
- Will the officiating by strict? It will be the same as our league champ meets - so yes. If you are unsure whether your swimmer can swim an event legally - I would not enter them in that event for this meet. We will get them all legal as the season goes on.
- If I am not coming do I need to do anything? Nope - you only need to sign up and select your events if you plan on attending.
